Four Dallas attorneys are among the who's who of
asbestos litigators to assemble next month in Los Angeles to discuss emerging asbestos litigation trends and review what transpired
last year.
Shepard Hoffman, Esq., Law Offices of Shepard A. Hoffman, LLC, Dallas, will be among a panel of litigators discussing
new types of exposures while Jeffrey Simon, Esq., Simon Eddins & Greenstone and Robert Thackston of Hawkins, Parnell & Thackston, also from Dallas, will participate in a litigation review. Ray Harris of the Dallas firm Schachter Harris will participate in discussion about
heavy machinery asbestos cases.
The conference is chaired by John Cooney of Chicago's Cooney & Conway, Timothy Krippner of Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney, Ltd., also of Chicago and Perry Weitz of New York's Weitz & Luxenberg P.C.
Cutting-edge emerging asbestos litigation issues such as household asbestos exposures and the potential liability of
raw asbestos fiber suppliers are just two of the sessions at the conference. Recent household exposure verdicts and rulings as well as the science of these cases will be discussed. A frank discussion about potential defendants in raw asbestos fiber cases and the basis for liability is widely anticipated by attendees at this year's conference.
"Asbestos litigation has influenced and continues to influence all mass tort litigation that has followed it," said Tom Hagy, president of HB Litigation Conferences. "In this particular emerging asbestos litigation trends conference, attendees will have a clear sense of where we have been and the road asbestos litigation is about to go down."
That keynote speaker will be Erin Brokovich who consults with Weitz & Luxenberg and was the subject of a popular film starring Julia Roberts.
Other subjects to be covered in the Emerging Trends in Asbestos Litigation conference include: verdict and case valuation review;
mesothelioma treatment update; heavy machinery asbestos exposure actions; premises liability actions;
global asbestos claims issues; insurance coverage issues.
